My Topic J & D Fall 2013

I chose for my blog project Number 25, Israel Gave Birth Control to Ethiopian Immigrants Without Their Consent, on the list of Top 25 Censored Stories from 2012-2013. There's so many threads, so many questtions interwoven throughout this story. On one hand you have a question of population control and ethical issues and on the other you have a huge question and possible admitance of racism and prejudice. Then you have the implications of genocide that are hovering around the story as well as given by this quote in the story writing for the Electronic Intifada, Ali Abunimah makes the case that, “if the allegations are proven, this practice may fit the legal definition of genocide.”Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's Prime Minister was even quoted as saying that illegal immigrants from Africa “threaten our existence as a Jewish and democratic state.”
